We’re going to continue running the 5 Reasons I Love Hockey series on weekends because it was well-received and because there are still so many references to NHL 94, Mario Lemieux and Norris Division hockey yet to be properly celebrated.

That said, here’s a special Friday edition. Below is a "5 Ways" participant that was supposed to appear during the series’ initial run in August but just missed the cut: Professional wrestler Robert Roode of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Roode’s a member of the tag team Beer Money, Inc. with James Storm; Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s 2008 tag team of the year and multiple winners of the TNA tag-team belts. He’s from Peterborough, Ontario - he was actually part of a TNA Wrestling stable called Team Canada for a bit — and a big-time puckhead.

Roode started playing hockey at age 4 and finished off at 19 playing for the Peterborough Petes Tier 2 Jr. A club, one level down from the OHL. He also played varsity hockey in high school, scoring the winning goal in overtime of his final game to earn his team the gold medal in the provincial championship tournament. Hey, it’s not the NWA Cyberspace Heavyweight Championship, but it’ll do.

As perhaps the only guest author in Puck Daddy history to have wrestled Brother Ray and Brother Devon, we were proud to ask Robert Roode for 5 Reasons He Loves Hockey. Professional wrestler that he is, Roode cut a promo on us; Detroit Red Wings fans should be happy:
