September 21, 2009
Here are your Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• Counting down the Top 20 enigmas in the NHL today. Some are disputable (Kristian Huselius(notes)), some are indisputable (Jonathan Cheechoo(notes)) and at least one isn’t in the NHL any more (Anton Babchuk(notes)). Demerits for including Tyler Arnason(notes) on the list. The great Ron White once said there’s no cure for stupid; well, there’s noting enigmatic about sucking, either. [The Hockey Writers]
• Scotty Hockey boldly suggests that a hockey game of some sort inside the new Cowboys Stadium could draw 100,000 fans with the right ticket prices. If nothing else, they should invite the Bruins to see if Chara can touch scoreboard with this stick blade at center ice. [Scotty Hockey]
• In other massive outdoor hockey game dreaming, how about that Central Park Winter Classic some have bandied about over the years? [5-Hole]
• Former Lightning GM Jay Feaster with a blistering column on the Dany Heatley(notes) trade to the San Jose Sharks: Calling Bryan Murray executive of the year material, how the trade made him "rethink the future" for San Jose and why the Sharks should give Heater the ‘C’. "What better way to keep Dany happy and show him he is loved?" It’s a must-read. [THN]
• TSN reports (via RDS) that defenseman Francis Bouillon(notes) is back with the Nashville Predators for one-year and a $750,000 contract. Smart move for a team that took a hit on the blue line this season. [TSN]
• Spector covers the attempted debunking of an Alexander Frolov(notes) to the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Kris Versteeg(notes) and defenseman Cam Barker(notes) rumor that made the rounds this weekend. [Spector]
• There are a preposterous number of personalized plates in the DC area, and the Washington Capitals have a portion of that market cornered. Get ready to play Bumper Stumpers! [Simply Sensational]
• Damien Cox: "Understand this. While Wilson and Burke are friends from years back, Burke now has more personal prestige invested in Kessel being successful than in Wilson, a coach Burke didn’t hire." C’mon, are we really going to keep pretending that Brian Burke didn’t have something, anything to do with Wilson going to the Toronto Maple Leafs? Seriously? [Toronto Star]
• Tim "Clownboy" Conboy is a Bud Light man. Well that explains the insatiable thirst for blood. [Canes Country]
• Will Maxim Afinogenov(notes), Martin Havlat(notes) and Simon Gagne(notes) boom or will they bust. [THN]
• Chris Botta reported on the New York Islanders and the possibility of relocation to Brooklyn. BD Gallof takes the rumor to its wonderful, Vinnie Barbarino-filled conclusion. [Hockey Independent]
• It’s Day One of the Colorado Avalanche bloggers’ mass suicide watch roundtable on the upcoming season. [MHH]
• Did you know that "Kyle Quincey is one of only two ex-Detroit Red Wings to play for the Avalanche?" [Denver Post]

• This is also from Adrian Dater, via Twitter. Looks like the Versus/DirecTV negotiations are just going swimmingly.
• Farjestads BK is like a Swedish mirror image of the Detroit Red Wings. (Does that mean they have a few North American superstars, a bunch of Swedish grunts and a goalie who’s awesome in the regular season?) If for no other reason, we link this because of Hakan Loob. [NHL]
• David Booth(notes) has been given the ‘A’ for the Florida Panthers. Powers Boothe still dead at the end of "Sudden Death." [Litter Box Cats]
• Why Chris Kunitz(notes) didn’t produce for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the postseason, and why he’s not looking to use it as an excuse. [Tribune Review]
• It’s down in the column a bit, but really good stuff about Sidney Crosby(notes), Chris Chelios(notes) and the NHLPA in this post. "Rest assured, whomever is pulling the strings is doing so not for the good of the players, certainly not for the good of the game. No, there is only one force that could cause this, selfish greed." [Toronto Sports Media]
• Inside the NAHL’s annual showcase event in Blaine, Minnesota. [WCHB]
• NHL Live returns to Sirius XM next week, with a rotating collection of hosts including "Rob Simpson, Deb Placey, Sam Rosen and Don La Greca) and analysts (EJ Hradek, Billy Jaffe, Joe Micheletti, Dave Maloney and former Albany River Rat Jim Dowd(notes))." [Parting Schotts]
• Finally, the Los Angeles Kings present their season teaser, and it’s a Hollywood effort for sure. After all the buzz words ("Passion!" "Pride!") and testimonials, we expected Ari Gold to appear and mutter "Vincent Chase … what do these things have in common …"
