BERLIN (AP) — Bayern Munich remained without a win in the new Bundesliga season, coming from behind Saturday to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Werder Bremen. Mario Gomez scored his first Bundesliga goal for Bayern in the 72nd minute to salvage the point after Mesut Oezil had shot Werder ahead after 39 minutes. Hamburger SV scored three goals in the first 12 minutes and beat Borussia Dortmund 4-1 to take the provisional lead in the standings on goal difference over Eintracht Frankfurt, which drew 1-1 at home with promoted Nuremberg. Defending champion Wolfsburg later played at Cologne. In other matches, Stuttgart beat promoted Freiburg 4-2, Hannover drew 1-1 at home with Mainz, another promoted team, and Bayer Leverkusen edged Hoffenheim 1-0. In Munich, the home fans jeered Louis van Gaal’s team off the field after a poor first half dominated by Werder. Oezil scored after a counterattack, picking up a good pass from Aaron Hunt to slot home past Michael Rensing. Bayern came out with more determination after the break and Franck Ribery finally made his season debut when he came off the bench in the 62nd minute. The French star, who had been suffering from knee tendinitis, inspired Bayern’s game and injected more speed into its passing, and the home team hardly allowed Werder to come out of its half. Gomez finally tied the game after a cross from Philipp Lahm. Werder goalkeeper Tim Wiese protected his team’s point by making two outstanding saves from Ivica Olic. There was a mixed a reaction from Bayern’s fans at the end of the game, with some fans booing and some applauding. Werder remained a tough rival for Bayern, which lost 5-2 at home to the northern German side last season. In Hamburg, Guy Demel poked the ball across the line in the third minute, only to see Nelson Valdez equalize one minute later. But Ze Roberto, the midfielder who came to Hamburg from Bayern Munich, restored Hamburg’s lead for good in the 10th. The Brazilian’s first effort bounced off the post but he collected the rebound and put the ball into the net. Two minutes later, Eljero Elia went past three Dortmund defenders and fed Paolo Guerrero for 3-1. Newly signed Sweden striker Marcus Berg completed the victory three minutes after coming off the bench in the 72nd. Brazilian midfielder Caio scored for Eintracht in Frankfurt but Albert Bunjaku equalized for a strong Nuremberg side in the 65th. Stefan Kiessling scored the only goal for Leverkusen to beat Hoffenheim and give new coach Jupp Heynckes his first win of the season. Hoffenheim, one of last season’s surprise teams, is without a win after two games. Hannover had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Mainz, also coming from behind to tie the game on Jiri Stajner’s penalty shot in the 56th, three minutes after Aristide Bance had scored for the visiting team. Stuttgart got two goals from Brazilian substitute midfielder Elson, who also set up one of the other goals. Mohamadou Idrissou scored both for Freiburg. Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
