Most weekday evenings, the Stew looks at five approaching
games worth monitoring. As they occur, feel free to discuss the night’s
happenings in the comment section below.

Braves at Marlins, 7:10 ET We often like to jokingly refer to Florida as the "Fighting Fish," but Hanley Ramirez(notes) and Dan Uggla(notes) (at right, in chummier times) seem intent on earning the moniker. According to the Palm Beach Post, the two teammates got into a shouting match before tonight’s game and the status of Ramirez’s balky left hamstring was apparently the cause. The Marlins shut down the clubhouse for a team meeting and it looks like Uggla and Ramirez will be forced to confront any right or wrong assumptions the Marlins are making about Ramirez sitting out because of injury.

Meanwhile, Atlanta has already won the first two games of this four-game set and have Javier Vazquez(notes) taking the hill tonight. I’d hate to already award them a victory, but the Marlins seem to bit wilting under the pressure of getting back into the NL wild card race, no?

Giants at Phillies, 7:05 Welcome to the G-Men, Brad Penny(notes). Your first mission, should you choose to accept it, will be shutting down the Phillies’ prolific offense while keeping pace with the Rockies, now a game ahead in the wild card race.

Angels at Mariners, 6:40 Welcome to the Halos, Scott Kazmir(notes). Your first mission, should you choose to accept it, will be going toe to toe with Felix Hernandez(notes)

Brewers at Cardinals, 8:15 No, this game doesn’t really hold any larger consequences in anything except the Cy Young race, but tune in to watch Chris Carpenter(notes) keep Milwaukee’s jerseys tucked in anyway.

Rays at Red Sox, 7:08  Say this for the Rays, at least their organization has ascended to a spot where it actually has people getting angry when expectations aren’t being fulfilled. Feel the love disappointment and bitterness at #HistoricalJoeMaddon tonight!
